Card-issuer lounge network

Centurion Lounge

Centurion Lounge is American Express's flagship in-house airport lounge brand. It is built and operated directly by Amex rather than contracted through a third-party network like Priority Pass, which is what gives the locations their distinctive food, design, and cardholder-only feel.

Operated by American Express 22 locations trackedFounded 2013

How Centurion Lounge access works

Access is gated entirely to American Express cardholders. Centurion Lounges are not on Priority Pass and cannot be entered with a paid day pass. Cardholders need to present an eligible American Express card and a same-day boarding pass at the front desk. Boarding passes for any airline are accepted, the lounge is not airline-tied, but they must be for departures originating from the airport on that day. International transit passengers also qualify in most locations.

Which cards include Centurion Lounge access

In the United States, the Platinum Card from American Express, the Business Platinum Card, and the Centurion Card all carry Centurion Lounge access for the cardholder. Internationally, the Platinum Card variants in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, India, and Hong Kong each include access at participating Centurion locations, with regional differences in guest allowance. The Delta SkyMiles Reserve card grants Centurion entry only on a same-day Delta-marketed flight.

Guest policy in 2026

Until early 2023, US Platinum cardholders could bring two guests for free at every visit. Amex tightened that benefit and now requires US-issued Platinum cardholders to hit a calendar-year spend threshold (currently $75,000) to retain unlimited free guests. Below that threshold, additional guests are charged per visit. Card variants outside the United States have their own guest rules; the official benefit page on americanexpress.com is the source of truth before you fly.

What Centurion Lounges include

Centurion locations are built around a chef-led menu, a full bar with named cocktails, family rooms, dedicated workspaces, and shower suites at most flagships. Recent flagship openings (Atlanta, New York LaGuardia, Las Vegas, Denver) have introduced larger footprints with multiple seating zones and outdoor terraces. Older locations like Hong Kong are smaller but maintain the food and beverage standard that defines the brand.

Where Centurion Lounges exist

Coverage is heaviest in the United States, with locations at most major hubs and some secondary cities. International locations include London Heathrow, Hong Kong International, Sydney Kingsford Smith, and a handful of Mexican cities. The full list is on the American Express Centurion Lounge directory and updates several times a year as new locations open or rebuild.

Frequently asked questions

What credit cards include Centurion Lounge access?
The Platinum Card from American Express, the Business Platinum Card, and the Centurion Card all include Centurion Lounge access in the United States. Platinum variants in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, India, and Hong Kong include access at participating locations. The Delta SkyMiles Reserve card grants Centurion access only when you hold a same-day Delta flight ticket.
Does Priority Pass work at Centurion Lounge?
No. Centurion Lounge is not part of the Priority Pass network. Access is restricted to American Express cardholders with an eligible card and a same-day boarding pass.
How many guests can I bring to Centurion Lounge?
In the United States, Platinum cardholders may bring up to two guests free, but only if they spend at least $75,000 on the card in a calendar year. Below that threshold, additional guests are charged per visit. Centurion Cardholders retain unlimited free guests. International Platinum variants follow their own regional rules.
Can I buy a Centurion Lounge day pass?
No. Centurion Lounge does not sell day passes. The lounge is open only to eligible American Express cardholders. Holders without an eligible card cannot enter, even when accompanying a cardholder beyond the guest allowance, unless they pay the per-guest fee.
How early can I arrive at a Centurion Lounge before my flight?
In most US locations, eligible cardholders can enter up to 3 hours before their scheduled departure. Some flagship locations offer earlier entry for international departures. Specific time windows are posted at each lounge entrance and may change seasonally.
Are Centurion Lounges open to non-US cardholders?
Yes. International American Express Platinum variants, including those issued in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, India, Hong Kong, and Australia, include access at the same Centurion Lounges. Guest rules and visit limits vary by issuing market.
Where are Centurion Lounges located?
The network is concentrated in the United States, with additional flagship locations at London Heathrow, Hong Kong International, Sydney Kingsford Smith, and several Mexican airports. New locations are added every year and occasional locations close for renovation. The American Express directory has the live list.
Is Centurion Lounge worth the Platinum Card annual fee?
That depends on how often you fly through a Centurion-served airport and how you value the food, drink, and seating compared to Priority Pass alternatives at the same airports. Travelers who connect frequently through US hubs with Centurion locations tend to find the access alone covers a meaningful share of the Platinum annual fee. Travelers based in cities without a Centurion location lean more heavily on the card's other benefits.
