Best airport lounges at London Heathrow Airport (LHR)

Heathrow has more lounge brands per terminal than almost any other European airport. The right pick depends entirely on which terminal you fly from. Terminal 5 is British Airways territory with the cleanest premium experience; Terminal 3 is the most lounge-dense, with American, Cathay, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, and the Centurion all in one airside core; Terminal 2 is Star Alliance with the United Club, Lufthansa Senator, and Singapore Airlines lounges; Terminal 4 is the SkyTeam side. Picks below assume you have eligible access; if you only hold Priority Pass, the No1 lounges and Plaza Premium are your reliable doors.

  1. American Express Centurion Lounge

    Terminal 3Airside, Main Hall05:00 - 22:00

The Heathrow Centurion at Terminal 3 is the strongest non-airline lounge at the airport. Restricted to American Express Platinum and higher cardholders, with a chef-led food program and full bar that tend to hold their standard better than the airline lounges nearby. Worth knowing about even if you typically fly out of T5.

  2. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse

    Terminal 3Airside, Main Hall06:00 - 22:00

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at T3 is the pick if you fly Virgin Atlantic Upper Class or hold qualifying Flying Club status. Roof terrace, sit-down restaurant, and a spa. Among the most lifestyle-forward lounges in Europe.

  3. Lufthansa Senator Lounge

    Terminal 2Airside, Main Hall05:30 - 22:00

Lufthansa Senator at T2 anchors the Star Alliance side. Open to Star Alliance Gold and Senator-tier Miles & More members on international itineraries. Better food than the standard Business lounge in the same area.

  4. British Airways Galleries First

    Terminal 3Airside, Main Hall05:30 - 22:00

British Airways First / Galleries lounges at T5 are the right call when you fly BA. Multiple zones across T5A and the satellites; the First lounge specifically is restricted to BA First, Concorde Room cardholders, and Oneworld Emerald on a same-day BA flight.

  5. Emirates Lounge

Pro tip for LHR

Heathrow terminals are not connected airside. If you connect onto a different airline at a different terminal, you will re-clear security. Check your boarding pass before walking to a "better" lounge in another terminal — most travelers won't have time. T3 and T5 both have multiple high-quality lounges within their own footprint, so optimise within your terminal first.

Access at a glance

Priority Pass coverage at Heathrow runs through the Plaza Premium and No1 lounges across T2/T3/T4. Centurion access is restricted to Amex Platinum. Most airline-branded lounges require either a same-day premium-cabin ticket or qualifying alliance status.
